Odisha Receives ‘Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking’ Award at Windergy India 2026

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has received the prestigious ‘Wind India 2026: Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking’ award in recognition of its efforts to promote clean energy and advance the renewable energy sector. The award was conferred at the Windergy India 2026 conference held in Chennai on October 8.

Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo formally received the award on behalf of the state from Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, on Monday. The presentation ceremony was attended by Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Chairman and Managing Director of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), Satyapriya Rath, Managing Director of GRIDCO, and other senior officials of the Energy Department.

Earlier, Rath had received the award on behalf of Odisha from Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi during the conference in Chennai, in the presence of industry leaders and government dignitaries.

Congratulating the officers and staff of the Energy Department on the achievement, Singh Deo said the recognition reflected the state government’s commitment to accelerating the transition to clean energy and attracting sustainable investments under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy.

He also highlighted the state’s ambitious plans to expand its renewable energy sector and strengthen its position in India’s clean energy transition.

As part of its efforts to showcase Odisha’s potential to national and international investors, the state also hosted a special session titled ‘Odisha: India’s Next Wind Destination’ during Windergy India 2026.

The session aimed to highlight the state’s wind energy potential and explore opportunities to attract investment in the sector. The initiative is expected to strengthen Odisha’s visibility as a potential destination for wind energy development and support its broader renewable energy ambitions.

The recognition comes as Odisha seeks to expand its clean energy portfolio, encourage private investment and advance sustainable energy development in line with its renewable energy policy.
