
Bhubaneswar: The Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO), under the Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha, has been honored with the “Technology Sabha Award 2025” in the Enterprise Application category. The award, which recognizes excellence in leveraging technology for public service delivery, was conferred at the Technology Sabha event held in Hyderabad from February 21st to 23rd, 2025.
WATCO was recognized for its Water Quality Data Acquisition & Monitoring System, an innovative online platform developed in collaboration with the NIC, Odisha State Centre in Bhubaneswar. The system is designed to enhance water quality monitoring and management across urban areas of Odisha, providing a comprehensive solution for water quality sample collection, testing, and data surveillance.
The platform combines Government-to-Citizen (G2C) and Government-to-Government (G2G) services with real-time monitoring systems. It aims to ensure the safe supply of water to households by providing continuous surveillance of water quality. This system also facilitates efficient problem resolution by enabling rapid response to issues related to water quality, improving overall consumer satisfaction.
The award presentation took place in the presence of Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha. Gurucharan Das, Managing Director of WATCO, along with senior officers from the organization, were also present for the ceremony.
Usha Padhee congratulated the WATCO team and remarked, “This achievement is a testament to Odisha’s commitment to leveraging digital governance for improved public service delivery. The Water Quality Data Acquisition & Monitoring System is a significant step forward in ensuring water safety and enhancing citizen satisfaction across urban areas.”
