Veteran Television Actor Rituraj Singh Passes Away at 59

Mumbai: In a heartbreaking turn of events, television actor Rituraj Singh, renowned for his portrayal of Yashpal in the popular serial Anupamaa, has succumbed to a cardiac arrest at the age of 59.

The news of Rituraj Singh’s demise due to cardiac arrest has left the entertainment industry in mourning. The actor, who left an indelible mark with his versatile performances, breathed his last on Monday night. His close friend and fellow actor, Amit Behl, confirmed the sad news.

According to reports, Rituraj had recently been hospitalized for complications related to a pancreatic disease. Although he was discharged a few days ago, the actor faced an untimely demise at his residence.

Amit Behl shared insights into Rituraj’s health struggles, stating, “He had been hospitalized due to some stomach issues and was discharged a few days ago. He passed away around 12.30 am at his home due to a cardiac arrest.”

Expressing grief over the loss, actor Arshad Warsi took to social media, saying, “I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building; he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actor… will miss you brother…”

Renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared fond memories of the departed actor, “Rituraj!!!! Can’t believe this! I directed him briefly in a daily soap called K Street Pali Hill, but in the process, we became good friends. Been a while since we hung out but I have such fond memories. Untapped actor and a warm human. Gone suddenly and too early.”

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri paid tribute, saying, “Rituraj, my friend, how did you make it even possible? ‘Kitna baaki tha… (so much was left).’ Artists never die. Om Shanti.”

Rituraj Singh showcased his acting prowess in various television shows, including Banegi Apni Baat, Jyoti, Hitler Didi, Shapath, Warrior High, Aahat, Adaalat, Diya, and Aur Baati Hum. He essayed the role of Balwant Choudhary in the TV serial Laado 2.

Apart from his television endeavors, Rituraj made notable appearances in films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), Vash- Possessed by the Obsessed, and Thunivu (2023). His final film, Yaariyan 2, was released last year.

The talented actor also left his mark in the digital space, featuring in web series such as The Test Case, Hey Prabhu, Criminal, Abhay, Bandish Bandits, Never Kiss Your Best Friend, and Made in Heaven season 2. His portrayal of Yashpal in the serial Anupamaa was one of his recent roles before his untimely demise.
