Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches KrishiNivesh Agri Investment Portal to Boost Agribusiness and Farmers’ Income

New Delhi: To modernize the agricultural sector, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, launched the KrishiNivesh Agri Investment Portal at Pusa, New Delhi, today. The platform is designed to centralize investment opportunities and information, aiming to boost agribusinesses and increase farmers’ incomes. Union Ministers of State for Agriculture, Bhagirath Choudhary and Ramnath Thakur, along with Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, were present at the launch event.

Highlighting the significance of the portal, Chouhan stated, “KrishiNivesh will revolutionize the agricultural landscape by offering a comprehensive platform that facilitates investments and supports agribusiness growth.” He emphasized that the portal aligns with the government’s vision of modernizing agriculture through technological innovation and increased access to resources.

The KrishiNivesh portal is designed to serve a wide range of stakeholders, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and industries. It provides easy access to information on various Central and State Government schemes, helping to streamline the application process and track investment statuses. Chouhan noted that the platform will tackle long-standing issues such as fragmented information and delayed loan disbursement, thereby creating a transparent and efficient investment ecosystem.

“The portal will catalyze a new era of growth in India’s agriculture by promoting collaboration and driving innovation,” the Union Minister said. He also stressed the importance of bridging the information gap and ensuring seamless coordination between departments to empower stakeholders and make informed decisions.

During the launch event, Chouhan also presented the AIF Excellence Awards to top-performing banks and states, recognizing their efforts under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) scheme. Public sector banks such as State Bank of India, Canara Bank, and Punjab National Bank, along with private sector HDFC Bank, were awarded for their contributions. Among the best-performing states were Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Telangana.

Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary of Agriculture, highlighted the portal’s alignment with the Digital Mission on Agriculture and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, both of which aim to modernize the agriculture sector using technology. He noted that KrishiNivesh offers a user-friendly interface, real-time assistance through chatbots, and data-driven dashboards to aid decision-making.

Joint Secretary of Agriculture, Samuel Praveen Kumar, provided an overview of KrishiNivesh, noting that Phase 1 of the portal covers 11 schemes, including flagship programs such as the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY). He expressed optimism that the portal will play a vital role in fostering innovation and prosperity in India’s agriculture sector.

The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), launched in 2020, focuses on creating post-harvest infrastructure and community farming assets. The government has been conducting special campaigns to promote the AIF scheme, and the Excellence Awards aim to inspire continued progress and performance in the sector.
