Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav Reviews National Health Mission Progress with Key States

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Health, Prataprao Jadhav, held a crucial review meeting yesterday with senior officials from the Union Health Ministry and state representatives from Punjab, Karnataka, and West Bengal to assess the progress of the National Health Mission (NHM). The meeting also included officers from the National Health Authority and the Ministry of Ayush.

The review covered key areas of the NHM, focusing on both financial and physical progress. Discussions spanned infrastructure projects, human resource development, the Emergency Covid Response Package, the 15th Finance Commission’s recommendations, the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), and progress under AYUSH.

During the meeting, Jadhav stressed the importance of states complying with guidelines and making efficient use of the funds provided by the central government under various health schemes. He emphasized the need for seamless collaboration between states and the Centre to enhance healthcare services across the country. “Collaboration and effective communication between the Centre and states are key to achieving the objectives of the NHM and ensuring better health outcomes for all citizens,” Jadhav stated.

He also listened to suggestions from state representatives and encouraged officials to work diligently toward improving healthcare services.

Key attendees included Saurabh Jain, Joint Secretary, MoHFW; Harsh Gupta, Principal Secretary of Health, Karnataka; Dr. Naveen, Ghanshyam Thori, and Abhishek Tiwary, the Mission Directors of NHM from Karnataka, Punjab, and West Bengal, respectively, along with senior officials from the Union Health Ministry.
