Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav Reviews All-India Institute of Ayurveda, Announces Expansion of AYUSH Institutes

New Delhi: Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, visited the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) on Friday, where he inspected the campus and reviewed the treatment facilities available to patients. During a program held at the institute, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bringing Ayurveda to every household, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting the ancient Indian medical system across the nation.

Jadhav acknowledged the damage that Ayurveda and other traditional medical systems suffered during the colonial period and foreign invasions. However, he noted a global shift in perception, with increasing acceptance of Yoga and Ayurveda worldwide. “Today, these traditional practices are gaining recognition on the global stage,” the Minister said.

In a major announcement, the Minister revealed plans to open 10 new AYUSH institutes over the next five years, aiming to further expand the reach of Ayurveda and ensure that every citizen can benefit from this holistic medical system.

During a media interaction, Jadhav also mentioned that the President of India had expressed interest in visiting the institute, and his own visit was part of preparations for this upcoming event.

Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA, expressed her gratitude for the Minister’s support, noting that his leadership had been instrumental in promoting Ayurveda both domestically and internationally. “His guidance will help establish Ayurveda as a leading global medical practice,” she said.

The Minister’s visit also included the inauguration of an auditorium dedicated to the late Prof. Sanjay Gupta, the former Medical Superintendent of AIIA, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, Jadhav unveiled the brochure for the upcoming international conference, “AAROHA-2024,” which is set to take place from October 17 to 19.
