
New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced a significant allocation of Rs 343.74 Crore for the expansion of the Mangalore-Mudigere-Tumkur section of National Highway 73 (NH-73) in Karnataka. The project aims to transform the existing road into a 2-lane road with paved shoulders, covering a stretch of 10.8 km. Gadkari shared this information through a post on his official social media platform.
The expansion project is set to be executed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode. This initiative is strategically designed to enhance connectivity in the region, catering to the diverse and challenging topography, including the hilly and mountainous landscapes of Charmadi Ghat.
Highlighting the importance of the project, he emphasized that the expansion of NH-73 will play a crucial role in improving connectivity, facilitating smoother transportation, and addressing the challenges posed by the geographical features of the region. The allocated funds aim to boost infrastructural development and contribute to the overall progress of Karnataka’s transportation network.
