Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Reviews Labour and Employment Institutions in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, visited Chandigarh today to assess key institutions under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. During his visit, he reviewed the functioning of the Labour Bureau and the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Model Hospital, engaging with officials and stakeholders to evaluate ongoing initiatives and future plans.

At the Labour Bureau, Dr. Mandaviya was given a detailed presentation on the organization’s various activities, including labour statistics, price indices, and surveys. He was briefed on how the Bureau plays a pivotal role in gathering and analyzing data that supports economic growth and governance reforms. Stressing the importance of data-driven policymaking, he reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring worker welfare and improving service delivery through evidence-based decisions.

As part of his review, the Union Minister also assessed the performance and initiatives of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in the Punjab & Himachal Pradesh Zone. He highlighted that ongoing reforms in the IT system have been instrumental in transforming EPFO’s functioning, making it more efficient and transparent.

Later in the day, Dr. Mandaviya visited the ESIC Model Hospital in Chandigarh, where he toured key facilities, including the OPD Registration Counter, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology Unit, High Dependency Unit (HDU), OPD, and Casualty departments. During his visit, he interacted with patients and assured them of the government’s dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services for workers and their families.

To provide further insights into the hospital’s operations, a PowerPoint presentation was conducted in the Conference Hall, offering an overview of the hospital’s objectives, functioning, and vision. The Union Minister commended the efforts of the hospital administration and emphasized the need for continuous improvements in healthcare services for insured workers under ESIC.

Dr. Mandaviya’s visit underscored the government’s proactive approach in strengthening labour welfare policies and enhancing healthcare services for workers, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth and social security.
