New Delhi: Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has urged all citizens to actively participate in outdoor sports for at least one hour to celebrate National Sports Day. The call to action aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a fitter and more active India through the “Fit India Movement.”
Inspired by the Prime Minister’s slogan, “Khelega India, Khilega India” (When India plays, India blossoms), Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the importance of making fitness a national priority. “Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream is to make India a fit nation. The Fit India Movement is a program for every citizen, and I invite everyone to be part of this nationwide celebration on National Sports Day,” he said.
Highlighting the significance of maintaining an active lifestyle, Dr. Mandaviya urged Indians to prioritize their health through sports. “Play any sport, stay fit!” he encouraged, stressing that engaging in physical activities is essential for overall well-being.
The Minister further noted that National Sports Day, celebrated annually on August 29, is not only a day to honour India’s sports heroes but also a reminder of the vital role sports play in promoting a healthy and balanced life. He called on families and friends to participate in sports together on the occasion, marking a collective step towards building a fitter, more active nation.
Dr. Mandaviya’s appeal aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to promote fitness and sports, aiming to create a healthier, more physically active population. National Sports Day also commemorates the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, serving as a tribute to the country’s rich sports heritage.
