Union Minister Launches Mobile Application for FCI Grievance Redressal System

New Delhi: In a significant step towards enhancing transparency and accountability in the food distribution sector, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, launched the Mobile Application of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Grievance Redressal System (FCI GRS) for rice millers today. This initiative aims to facilitate rice millers in efficiently addressing their grievances with the FCI, aligning with the government’s ongoing efforts to harness technology for good governance.

The FCI GRS Application is available for download on the Google Play Store for Android users and is part of the broader Digital India initiative. The app provides a convenient platform for rice millers to lodge complaints, track their status, and receive responses in an end-to-end digitized manner, significantly improving responsiveness and accountability.

Key features of the FCI GRS Application include:

  • User-Friendly Grievance Submission: Rice millers can easily register their grievances through an intuitive interface, simplifying communication with the FCI. After a one-time registration, they can lodge multiple grievances, each assigned a Unique Grievance ID.
  • Real-Time Tracking: The app offers real-time updates on the status of grievances, ensuring that millers remain informed throughout the process.
  • Automatic Assignment & Fast Resolution: Once a grievance is received, it is automatically assigned to the concerned Nodal Officers for action. The app allows Nodal Officers to investigate complaints using the Quick Response Team (QRT) or gather feedback from the relevant division.
  • Geo-Fencing for Quick Response Teams: For grievances requiring site visits by QRTs, the app employs a geo-fencing tool to capture the physical presence of team members, further enhancing the grievance redressal process.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to enhance accountability, transparency, and stakeholder satisfaction by providing a robust grievance redressal mechanism. The launch of the FCI GRS Application marks a milestone in the FCI’s efforts to facilitate procurement operations with improved service standards, reinforcing the government’s dedication to utilizing technology for better governance.
