Union Minister JP Nadda Reviews Pharma and MediTech Sector
New Delhi: Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Jagat Prakash Nadda, along with Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Anupriya Patel, presided over a comprehensive review meeting of the Department of Pharmaceuticals today. The meeting included a detailed overview of the Pharma and MediTech sector, with the Department presenting an extensive report on its regulatory framework and the schemes it implements.
In his address, Minister Nadda emphasized the importance of aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047.” He reviewed the Department’s Five Year Agenda and the 100 Days Action Plan, highlighting key areas of focus. The Five Year Plan aims to enhance drug security, achieve self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta) in medical devices, expand the Jan Aushadhi Scheme, and ensure that medicines and treatments are affordable for all citizens.
Minister Nadda stressed the importance of quality in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. He directed that all manufacturing plants for drugs and medical devices be upgraded to world-class standards within the next three years.
“We must focus on quality and ensure that our manufacturing plants are on par with global standards,” said Minister Nadda. “This is crucial for achieving our goals of drug security and self-reliance in the medical sector.”
