Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Launches ‘Mining Dashboard’ to Bolster Transparency and Efficiency in Mineral Sector

New Delhi: Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, today launched the ‘Mining Dashboard’, a centralized digital platform developed by the Ministry of Mines to streamline monitoring of operational mineral blocks and track statutory clearances across the country. The initiative marks a major push by the Government of India to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the mining sector.

The launch of the dashboard comes as a significant milestone following the implementation of the auction regime under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, which was amended to make the allocation of mineral resources more structured and competitive. So far, a total of 500 mineral blocks have been successfully auctioned in 16 states—466 blocks by State Governments and 34 critical mineral blocks by the Central Government. Out of these, 64 blocks have been operationalized.

In his address, G. Kishan Reddy highlighted the importance of the dashboard in supporting real-time decision-making. He noted that the platform would provide a structured mechanism to identify delays, facilitate timely interventions, and accelerate the process of bringing auctioned mineral blocks into production. The dashboard is expected to serve as an essential tool not only for the Central and State Governments but also for mining project proponents and other key stakeholders. It offers a comprehensive view of the post-auction status, enabling better planning and coordination.

The minister further emphasized that this digital initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to fostering a transparent and investor-friendly environment in the mineral sector. The Mining Dashboard reflects the broader vision of the government to integrate technology in governance and promote sustainable mining practices.

With India looking to expand its domestic mineral production and reduce dependence on imports, the dashboard is poised to play a critical role in unlocking the potential of auctioned resources and fast-tracking project implementation. Officials added that such digital monitoring systems will improve ease of doing business in mining and contribute to the country’s resource security and economic development.
