Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated the Naranarayan Shastri Institute of Technology (NSIT) in Jetalpur, Ahmedabad, today. In his address, Shri Amit Shah praised the transformative impact of the Swaminarayan Bhagwan sect in making Jetalpur a hub of education and religious consciousness.
Highlighting the Swaminarayan sect’s contribution to education, Shri Amit Shah noted that the temples associated with the sect have played a significant role in Gujarat’s literacy. Gurukuls affiliated with the sect have provided education to tribal, Dalit, and economically disadvantaged students, contributing to the state’s educational landscape. The newly inaugurated NSIT, along with the Forensic Science University, is part of Jetalpur’s renowned educational institution.
The Home Minister announced that Jetalpur will now offer courses in B.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Cyber Security, and 5-year integrated courses in Digital Forensics. Shri Shah expressed confidence that this initiative would position Jetalpur as a center for forensic science studies, not only for Ahmedabad but for the entire state of Gujarat.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat, established the Gujarat Forensic Science University, which later became the National Forensic Science University under his leadership as Prime Minister.
Shri Amit Shah emphasized the significance of forensic science in the changing legal landscape of India. He stated that the new laws, introduced under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, focus on providing justice to Indian citizens, particularly women. The Home Minister underscored that forensic science plays a crucial role in the new legal framework, and the government has made it mandatory to collect forensic evidence in crimes with a punishment of seven years or more across the country.
Speaking on the holistic changes in education, Shri Shah acknowledged the new education policy introduced by the Modi government, promoting openness in education. He mentioned that Forensic Science University aims to become a world-leading technical institution, and the Home Ministry is actively preparing for this transformation.
In conclusion, Shri Amit Shah envisioned the Forensic Science University as a banyan tree associated with bringing education, training, research, and innovation in forensic science to a global audience. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing justice, promoting education, and advancing technology in alignment with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for a new India.
