Union Home Minister Amit Shah Launches Development Initiatives for Rural Delhi Under ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan’

New Delhi: In a groundbreaking effort to uplift rural areas in Delhi, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated the commencement of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) facilities in 41 villages and initiated various development projects in 178 villages with an estimated outlay of Rs 383 crore under the ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan.’ The ceremony saw the presence of Union Minister for Housing & Urban Development and Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, and Lt Governor of Delhi, Shri V K Saxena.

Shri Amit Shah expressed the significance of the day, marking the introduction of piped gas to 41 villages in Delhi alongside the commencement of diverse development projects in 178 villages. He highlighted the allocated Rs. 900 crore for enhancing infrastructure and improving living standards in Delhi’s villages, emphasizing that this funding was underutilized until now.

The Union Home Minister commended Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s transformative efforts in the last decade, stating that PM Modi not only made promises but also delivered on them. Shri Shah listed various initiatives such as providing LPG cylinders, piped gas, tap water, constructing toilets, houses, and offering free food grains to millions. He asserted that the last decade witnessed the welfare of the poor and the development of villages, closing the gap between urban and rural lifestyles.

Shri Shah acknowledged the positive impact of initiatives like the abolition of Triple Talaq and the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), fostering optimism and enthusiasm in the country. He underscored the progress made by PM Modi, focusing on energy security, easy citizen movement through CNG buses, metro rail, and new trains, along with schemes like PM-Surya Ghar for solar power plants.

Under the ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan,’ development projects worth Rs 383 crore were inaugurated, encompassing better roads, ponds, plantation, drainage, sewage treatment plants, drinking water facilities, rainwater harvesting, parks, playgrounds, community halls, and more.

Shri Amit Shah concluded by emphasizing the need for genuine promises and actions in politics. He commended PM Modi’s accomplishments in making India prosperous, educated, and secure, enhancing the country’s global standing.

The ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan’ aims to develop infrastructure in urbanized villages and new urban areas of Delhi, allocating a fund of Rs 960 crore to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The initiative focuses on enhancing the quality of life for villagers, strategic planning, community participation, and equitable access to assets and opportunities.

Today’s inauguration included the commencement of PNG supply in 41 villages, with 100 km of pipeline network installed at a cost of Rs 20 crore by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to providing green energy, ensuring safety, affordability, and eco-friendliness in the national capital. IGL, having covered all urban areas, is now expanding its network into rural regions.
