Union Health Minister Inaugurates National Dental Commission HQ and Nursing Colleges Virtually

New Delhi:  In a significant leap forward for dental and nursing education, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the new headquarters of the National Dental Commission (NDC) and laid the foundation stones for three Nursing Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and one in Jammu and Kashmir. The ceremony, held virtually, marked a transformative step in advancing dental and nursing education and healthcare services across the country.

Key Highlights:

  1. Inauguration of National Dental Commission Headquarters: Dr. Mandaviya inaugurated the new headquarters of the National Dental Commission, signaling a new era in dental education and administration. The Dental Commission Act aims to enhance the practicality, affordability, and transparency of dental education.
  2. Foundation Stones for Nursing Colleges: The Health Minister laid the foundation stones for three Nursing Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and one in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative is part of the government’s broader scheme to establish 157 new nursing colleges co-located with existing medical colleges.
  3. MoU Between Dental Council of India and Quality Council of India: Dr. Mandaviya presided over the signing of an MoU between the Dental Council of India and Quality Council of India. This collaboration focuses on assessing and rating undergraduate dental colleges, ensuring high-quality standards in dental education.
  4. Launch of National Dental Register (NDR): The Health Minister launched the National Dental Register under the National Health Digital Mission. NDR will provide a unique identification (DCI ID) to all practicing dentists in India, ensuring transparency and verification through state dental councils.
  5. Foreign Language Courses in Nursing Colleges: Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the government’s initiative to incorporate foreign language courses in medical education institutes, providing an additional advantage to students for opportunities abroad.
  6. Recognition of Nurses’ Role: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, emphasized the pivotal role of nurses in healthcare delivery and applauded the establishment of nursing colleges as a significant step towards building qualified human resources in healthcare.

The virtual event witnessed the presence of various dignitaries, including Shri Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, Shri Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and other esteemed guests from the healthcare and education sectors. The initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing dental and nursing education, ensuring quality standards, and leveraging digital solutions for healthcare management.
