Bhubaneswar: Two individuals, including a 21-year-old young woman, were suspected to have succumbed to sunstroke in separate incidents.
Santosh Jena, aged 34 and hailing from Osala village under Korei police limits in Jajpur district, met with a mishap while returning home on a motorcycle around noon. After falling from the two-wheeler, he was promptly rescued and rushed to the Korei Community Health Centre. Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care. Unfortunately, despite efforts to transport him to Cuttack, Jena passed away before the ambulance could arrive.
In a parallel incident, 21-year-old Bhubaneswari Das, a resident of Kaji Diha under Madhupatna police limits in Cuttack city, fell ill shortly after arriving home from college at noon. She was swiftly transported to the SCB Hospital via ambulance. Initially admitted to the heatstroke ward, Das was later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Tragically, she succumbed to her condition during the course of treatment.
