
Bhubaneswar: Christine Carla Kangaloo, President of Trinidad and Tobago, will be the chief guest at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10, 2025.
This announcement was made during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday, where preparations for the prestigious event were discussed. During her visit, President Kangaloo will also engage with students at the Godibari Government School in Chandaka, showcasing a commitment to cultural and educational exchange.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Pravasi Bharatiya Express as part of the event, which will also see the participation of prominent leaders, including Foreign Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that the event provides an invaluable platform to showcase Odisha’s rich art and culture on an international stage. He urged officials to ensure impeccable arrangements and extend the best hospitality to attendees.
Approximately 7,000 guests, including over 200 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), YouTubers, and bloggers from seven countries, are expected to attend the mega event. So far, 2,748 participants have registered. For the convenience and security of the visitors, a robust system has been put in place, including a high-security force, 250 traffic controllers, and 140 liaison officers.
The event itinerary includes guided tours to 31 prominent tourist attractions in Bhubaneswar, Konark, Puri, and Cuttack. Attendees will also be treated to a series of cultural programs at various locations, which will be broadcast live on Doordarshan, allowing a broader audience to experience the festivities.
