
Bhubaneswar: Train services in the Rayagada Division of East Coast Railway have been disrupted following a landslide between Maligura and Chhatariput stations, prompting the railway authorities to cancel several trains and curtail the operations of others as restoration work gets underway.
The changes have been made as a safety measure and to facilitate clearance and restoration of the affected railway section. Passengers travelling on the route between October 8 and 14 have been advised to check their train status before leaving for the station.
Train No. 18108 Jagdalpur–Rourkela Express will remain cancelled from October 9 to 13, 2026.
The following trains will remain cancelled from October 8 to 12, 2026:
Several trains will either terminate at or originate from Koraput, with their services between Koraput and Jagdalpur cancelled during the affected period.
Train No. 18005 Howrah–Jagdalpur Express, commencing its journey from Howrah from October 8 to 12, will be short-terminated at Koraput. Its service between Koraput and Jagdalpur will remain cancelled.
In the reverse direction, Train No. 18006 Jagdalpur–Howrah Express, scheduled to start from Jagdalpur from October 10 to 14, will originate from Koraput instead. The Jagdalpur–Koraput section will remain cancelled.
The same arrangement will apply to the Hirakhand Express services.
Train No. 18447 Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express, scheduled to leave Bhubaneswar from October 8 to 12, will be short-terminated at Koraput, with the Koraput–Jagdalpur section cancelled.
Train No. 18448 Jagdalpur–Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express, scheduled to commence from Jagdalpur from October 9 to 13, will originate from Koraput, with the Jagdalpur–Koraput section cancelled.
The disruption will also affect passenger train services on the route.
Train No. 58501 Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Passenger, scheduled to leave Visakhapatnam from October 8 to 12, will be short-terminated at Koraput. Its service between Koraput and Jagdalpur will remain cancelled.
Similarly, Train No. 58502 Kirandul–Visakhapatnam Passenger, scheduled to commence from Kirandul from October 8 to 12, will originate from Koraput, with the Jagdalpur–Koraput section cancelled.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the status of their respective trains before commencing their journey and plan their travel accordingly in view of the temporary changes.
The operational restrictions have been put in place to ensure passenger safety and enable restoration work in the landslide-affected section between Maligura and Chhatariput.
