Tragic Road Accident in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh: Prime Minister Announces Ex-gratia for Victims

Dindori:  A fatal road accident in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh has claimed the lives of at least 14 people and left 20 others injured. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when a pick-up truck overturned near Badjhar Ghat at around 1:30 am, following the loss of control by the driver.

Expressing his condolences, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased. Additionally, Rs. 50,000 will be provided to those injured in the mishap.

The Prime Minister’s Office shared the information on social media, quoting PM Modi, “An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Dindori, MP. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi.”

The victims, who had attended a program in the district’s Shahpura block at Amhai Devri village, were returning when the tragedy unfolded. The deceased include seven men, six women, and a minor boy, as confirmed by the local police.

Upon receiving information about the accident, the Dindori collector and superintendent of police promptly rushed to the scene to assist the victims. All the injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at the Shahpura Community Health Centre, as reported by Dindori district collector Vikas Mishra.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has also expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs. 4 lakh each for the kin of the victims of this tragic accident. The authorities are actively involved in providing support and care to the affected families during this challenging time.
