Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has announced traffic restrictions in Cuttack ahead of the much-anticipated India vs England ODI match at Barabati Stadium on Sunday, February 9. The measures aim to ensure the security of players and officials while facilitating smooth traffic movement for the public.
The restrictions will be enforced on Saturday from 1 PM to 9 PM and on Sunday from 8 AM until the match concludes and the crowd disperses.
Under the new traffic arrangements, vehicles approaching the stadium from various directions will be diverted, and designated parking spaces have been assigned to ease congestion. Key changes include:
- Vehicles from Ring Road via Mata Matha will be diverted to Lower Bali Yatra Ground, while those with car passes will be allowed to park at Upper Bali Yatra Ground.
- Vehicles from Howrah Motor Chhak and Mani Sahoo Chhak will not be allowed toward Madhusudan Square and must use the Ring Road via Old Law Hostel Gada.
- Only two-wheelers will be allowed toward Barabati Stadium from Biju Patnaik Chhak and Chandi Chhak, with other vehicles directed to Dayashram Parking.
- Vehicles from Madhusudan Nagar must park at Christian Padia near Ananda Bhawan Chhak.
- Parking arrangements for vehicles with passes to the Odisha Cricket Academy (OCA) Ground will be made through YMCA crossing and Gate No. 1 of Barabati Stadium.
Additionally, the movement of heavy vehicles on the Mahanadi and Kathajodi Ring Roads and within Cuttack city will be completely restricted from 8 AM to 2 AM on the match day. On February 8, during the practice session, heavy vehicles will be prohibited from Mahanadi Ring Road between Chahta Chhak and Sikharpur Chhak from 1 PM to 9 PM.
The police have urged spectators and commuters to follow the designated routes and use public transport whenever possible to avoid inconvenience. These measures are expected to ensure a hassle-free experience for cricket fans and the general public.
