Traffic Restrictions Announced in Bhubaneswar for Winter Session of Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: With the winter session of the Odisha Assembly set to begin on November 26, the Commissionerate Police has issued an advisory to regulate vehicular traffic in Bhubaneswar, ensuring smooth movement and enhanced security during the session.

The session, scheduled to conclude on December 31, will have 30 business days, with key discussions, including the presentation of the First Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2024-25 by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on November 26 and the related Appropriation Bill on December 5.

Traffic Diversions and Restrictions

To manage vehicular flow and address security concerns, the following restrictions will be in place:

  1. Housing Board Square to Keshari Talkies Square: Vehicles will be diverted left from Keshari Talkies Square.
  2. AG Square to PMG Square: Vehicles will take a right turn from Jaydev Bhawan and proceed along Indira Gandhi Park Road.
  3. Master Canteen to PMG Square: Vehicles will be diverted via adjoining lanes at Lower PMG.
  4. 120 Infantry Battalion Square to Rabindra Mandap: Vehicles will be rerouted toward Power House Square.
  5. Raj Bhawan Square to MLA Colony/Rabindra Mandap: Vehicles will be diverted to Sastrinagar Square.

Emergency service vehicles such as police, fire, and ambulances, along with those authorized to enter the Assembly, Secretariat, and related offices, will be exempt from these restrictions.

The winter session is expected to witness significant legislative discussions. On the opening day, Chief Minister Majhi, who also oversees the Finance Department, will present the First Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2024-25. The Appropriation Bill for the supplementary budget will be tabled on December 5.

The Odisha Assembly winter session is a critical platform for discussing state policies, budgets, and development projects, with heightened security and logistical arrangements in place to ensure its smooth functioning.

Citizens and commuters are advised to plan their travel routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the session.
