Tawang: Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up to be the epicenter of adrenaline-pumping action as it is going to host the highly anticipated “Tawangchu Tides,” the largest kayaking tournament in the northeast, commencing on February 5.
Over six exhilarating days, participants will face the formidable Class 5 rapids along the Tawang Chu river, famed for its strategic proximity to the China border and deep spiritual significance.
With a global participation of 130 skilled kayakers, the tournament promises an unparalleled adventure set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas. Organizers have curated nine competition categories, tailored to diverse skill levels, placing a strong emphasis on speed and technical mastery.
Participants can look forward to first-class amenities, including top-notch tent accommodations complete with electricity, warm and nourishing meals, and pristine restroom facilities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Notably, the Tawang Chu, the primary river of Tawang, witnesses the convergence of two rivers from Tibet, Tsona Chu and Nyamjang Chu, along with numerous streams in the district. The combined river flows into Bhutan, enters Assam as the Manas River, and eventually merges with the Brahmaputra.
