Thrilling Matches Unfold in Day 10 of National Women’s Hockey League 2024

Ranchi: In an action-packed day at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Hockey Haryana clinched victory against Hockey Madhya Pradesh in a nail-biting shootout, while Hockey Association of Odisha triumphed over Hockey Mizoram in the ongoing National Women’s Hockey League 2024 (Phase 1) on Thursday.

Hockey Haryana Emerges Victorious:

The opening clash of the day witnessed a fierce battle between Hockey Haryana and Hockey Madhya Pradesh, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. Despite numerous opportunities, neither team managed to break the deadlock, leading to a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.

In the thrilling shootout that followed, Hockey Haryana emerged victorious with a 3-2 win. Manju Chorsiya, Pinki, and Khasa Shashi were the heroes for Hockey Haryana, scoring crucial goals in the shootout. Goalkeeper Ishika’s stellar performance, saving three goals, ensured Hockey Haryana secured two points. For Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Karmanpreet Kaur and Swati found the back of the net.

Hockey Association of Odisha Triumphs:

In the second encounter of the day, Hockey Association of Odisha showcased their prowess against Hockey Mizoram. After a goalless first quarter, Pratibha Ekka broke the deadlock for Hockey Association of Odisha with a well-executed field goal in the second quarter, giving her team a crucial lead.

The third quarter remained goalless, with Hockey Association of Odisha maintaining their 1-0 advantage. In the final quarter, Karuna Minz further extended their lead with another field goal, securing a 2-0 victory for Hockey Association of Odisha.

In the upcoming fixtures, Hockey Bengal will face off against Manipur Hockey, while Hockey Maharashtra will lock horns with Hockey Jharkhand.
