UWW Suspends Wrestler Bajrang Punia Till End of 2024

New Delhi: In response to the National Anti-Doping Agency’s (NADA) decision to provisionally suspend Bajrang Punia for an alleged anti-doping rule violation, the United World Wrestling (UWW) has announced its decision to suspend the Tokyo Olympic bronze-medalist until the end of 2024.

Bajrang Punia, the 30-year-old wrestler from Haryana, was provisionally suspended by NADA on April 23 for reportedly refusing to undergo a doping test. In light of this, the world governing body for wrestling, UWW, has taken decisive action by suspending Bajrang Punia until December 31, 2024.

According to the update on Bajrang’s profile provided by UWW, the wrestler stands suspended “for the following reason until Dec 31, 2024. Provisionally suspended by NADA IND for alleged ADRV (Anti-Doping Rule Violation).”

Despite the announcement from UWW, Bajrang Punia stated to PTI that he has not yet received any formal communication from the world wrestling body regarding his suspension.
