Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to railway connectivity, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced that three important long-distance trains—Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express, Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express, and Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity Express—will soon originate from Bhubaneswar New Station. The move aims to facilitate passengers from North Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas, with a focus on students, medical travelers, and daily commuters. The implementation date for this change will be announced shortly.
The decision to shift these train origins to Bhubaneswar New Station will provide significant relief to residents of North Bhubaneswar, reducing congestion at Bhubaneswar Main Station. In addition, all three trains will have a stoppage at Mancheswar Station, further improving accessibility for passengers in the area.
The move is expected to be particularly beneficial for students studying in North Bhubaneswar, which houses several major educational institutions, including engineering, medical, and management colleges. With improved rail connectivity, students will have more convenient travel options for their academic and personal needs. - Upgradation of waiting rooms and toilets to ensure passenger comfort.

- Provision of lifts on all platforms to assist passengers, especially those with mobility challenges.
- Enhancement of the existing station building to accommodate growing passenger traffic.
