Thousands Receive Appointment Letters as PM Modi Addresses 16th Rozgar Mela

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela via videoconferencing and distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly selected candidates in various Central Government departments and organisations.

One of the key events under this initiative was organised at the Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar, where Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, handed over appointment letters to 204 young appointees. The event highlighted the government’s ongoing mission to create employment and nurture a skilled, future-ready workforce.

Speaking at the Bhubaneswar event, Pradhan underlined that since its launch in 2022, the Rozgar Mela has enabled the recruitment of over 10 lakh youth across the country. He reiterated the government’s focus on transparent recruitment, merit-based selection, and good governance. The Minister informed that today’s drive was held at 47 locations nationwide, including seven centres in Odisha.

He further noted that the Odisha Government, taking inspiration from this central initiative, has been conducting state-level Nijukti Melas that have created between 25,000 and 30,000 job opportunities over the past year. This reflects a collaborative effort between the Centre and State to accelerate employment generation.

Drawing attention to India’s growing economic strength, Pradhan said the country has now become the world’s fourth-largest economy, overtaking Japan. With an average age of 25, he said India’s youth population offers a long-term demographic advantage that must be harnessed through education, employment, and entrepreneurship.

He also spoke about India’s emergence as a global leader in the digital economy and the rapid expansion of its startup ecosystem. According to the Minister, over 25 crore people have risen above the poverty line in the last ten years, reflecting the inclusive nature of India’s development model.

Touching on India’s improved self-reliance in food production, Shri Pradhan noted that the country has moved from depending on U.S. grain imports to now distributing free monthly food grains to over 60% of the population under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

Encouraging the newly appointed recruits, the Minister urged them to remain committed to public service and continuously upgrade their skills. He encouraged them to embrace new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and digital tools like ChatGPT to stay ahead in their careers and deliver better services to the public.

The Bhubaneswar event was attended by several senior officials and dignitaries, including Shri Parameshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway; L.V.S.S. Patrudu, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, East Coast Railway; Prof. Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar; Nirmaljit Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle; Prakash Chandra Nayak, Commissioner, GST, Central Excise & Customs, Bhubaneswar; Pradeep Kumar Ray, Registrar, IISER Berhampur; Goutam Patra, Chief Manager & SLBC Convenor, Odisha; Nagesh Kumar, Deputy Commandant, CRPF; and Dr. Sanghamitra Pati, Additional Director General, ICMR & Director-in-Charge, ICMR-RMRC Bhubaneswar.
