Thousands Gather for Yoga Mahotsav in Pune as Countdown to International Day of Yoga Begins

Pune: The ‘Yoga Mahotsav,’ commemorating the 75-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga, saw an impressive turnout at the Wadia College Sports Ground in Pune, Maharashtra. Organized jointly by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga and the National Institute of Naturopathy, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, the event drew thousands of enthusiastic participants who actively engaged in the practice of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). This fervent participation highlights the increasing significance of Yoga in promoting personal well-being and societal advancement.

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Shri Satyajit Paul, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Ayush; Shri Vishwas Mandalik, President of Yoga Vidya Gurukul, Nashik; Smt. Vijayalakshmi Bharadwaj, Director of the Ministry of Ayush; Dr. Satya Lakshmi, Director of the National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, and Vaidya Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of MDNIY. Their presence added significant value to the occasion, reflecting a collective commitment to promote Yoga and enhance the well-being of individuals and communities.

Speaking at the event, Shri Satyajit Paul, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Ayush, expressed his pleasure and pride in Pune hosting the ‘Yoga Mahotsav.’ He emphasized Yoga as a global movement towards a healthier and better tomorrow, commending the large gatherings and congratulating the participants.

Shri Vishwas Mandalik, President of Yoga Vidya Gurukul, Nashik, highlighted Yoga as a precious gift from India’s rich heritage that has contributed to making the world a healthier place. He described Yoga as a spiritual discipline that focuses on bringing harmony between the mind and body.

The Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) took center stage at the event, with a live demonstration performed by experts from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga under the leadership of its Director. Over 5000 Yoga enthusiasts participated in the demonstration, showcasing the significance of CYP in promoting holistic well-being. The program was broadcasted through various social media platforms of the Ministry of Ayush, MDNIY, and other Yoga institutions.
