‘The Cottage’ Celebrates Women Artisans with Special Exhibition on International Women’s Day
New Delhi: The Central Cottage Industries Corporation Ltd, popularly known as ‘The Cottage,’ marked International Women’s Day 2025 with a unique exhibition featuring works by National and State Award-winning women artisans. The event, held at Jawahar Vyapar Bhawan, Janpath, was inaugurated on March 8 by Katyayani Sanjay Bhatia, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, in the presence of Manoj Lal, Managing Director, CCIC.
Speaking at the inauguration, Manoj Lal highlighted the crucial role of artisans and weavers in India’s cottage industries sector. He emphasized that CCIC is actively empowering over 2,000 women artisans and weavers across the country by providing them with a marketing platform. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local, fostering self-reliance and economic growth for women artisans.
The exhibition provides a space for these talented artisans to showcase their handmade products and conduct live demonstrations of their craftsmanship. Lal noted that CCIC is also encouraging skilled women artisans to transition into entrepreneurship, ensuring greater financial independence and a stronger contribution to the nation’s economy.
As part of the Women’s Day celebrations, The Cottage has extended a special 15% discount to women customers during the exhibition period, encouraging art patrons to support traditional crafts while engaging directly with the artisans.
The exhibition will continue at Jawahar Vyapar Bhawan, Janpath, New Delhi, until March 13, 2025, offering visitors a chance to witness and appreciate the intricate skills of India’s finest women artisans.
