Surgeon Vice Adm Anupam Kapur Assumes Charge as Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces)

New Delhi: Surgeon Vice Admiral Anupam Kapur today took over as the Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces) at the office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services. The Flag Officer, who was commissioned into the Indian Navy on June 27, 1987, brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in military medicine.

Before assuming his new role, Vice Adm Kapur served as the Command Medical Officer of the Western Naval Command, where he was responsible for overseeing medical services across the command. His distinguished career also includes commanding two of the Indian Navy’s premier hospitals, INHS Asvini in Mumbai and INHS Sanjivani.

An alumnus of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Surgeon Vice Adm Kapur is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has further super-specialized in Gynecological Endoscopy. His contributions to the field of military medicine have been widely recognized, earning him the Nao Sena Medal for his distinguished service.

In addition to the Nao Sena Medal, Vice Adm Kapur has been commended twice by the Chief of the Naval Staff and once by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (West) for his outstanding contributions to the Indian Navy and the Armed Forces Medical Services.

As Director General Hospital Services, Vice Adm Kapur will be responsible for overseeing the medical services provided to armed forces personnel and their families, ensuring the highest standards of healthcare across military hospitals and medical facilities nationwide.
