Sudden Snowfall Strands 500 Tourists in East Sikkim; Trishakti Corps Rescues Stranded Travelers

 

Nathu-La:   In an unexpected turn of events, Nathu-La in East Sikkim witnessed heavy snowfall, leaving approximately 175 vehicles stranded, with more than 500 tourists trapped in the freezing conditions. Acting swiftly, the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army, under the leadership of Lieutenant General Arnav, launched a rescue mission to ensure the safety and well-being of the stranded individuals.

Braving sub-zero temperatures, troops from Trishakti Corps embarked on a challenging mission to reach the stranded tourists at Nathu-La. The operation, named Operation Himrahat, aimed to provide immediate assistance and rescue to those affected by the adverse weather conditions.

The Indian Army, known for its dedication to safeguarding the borders in the Himalayas, also extends its commitment to humanitarian efforts. The troops, well-equipped and trained for such contingencies, demonstrated their resilience and efficiency in the face of the challenging weather.

As part of the rescue operation, the Trishakti Corps ensured prompt medical care, hot refreshments, and meals for the stranded tourists. Safe transportation arrangements were made to facilitate their journey to safety. The Indian Army’s proactive response in providing assistance to both tourists and the local population highlights their commitment to the well-being of the people in the region.

Lieutenant General Arnav, leading the Trishakti Corps, expressed satisfaction with the successful execution of the rescue mission, emphasizing the Army’s motto – Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam. The timely intervention prevented any casualties or serious injuries among the stranded individuals.

The Indian Army’s commitment to the safety and welfare of the citizens stands as a testament to their dedication beyond national defence. The successful rescue operation in East Sikkim underscores the versatility and preparedness of the Trishakti Corps in handling diverse challenges in the region.
