Students Explore Heritage Through Art and Quiz Ahead of PHW’s First Anniversary

Puri: In the lead-up to the first anniversary of Puri Heritage Walks (PHW), a vibrant school-level competition was organised on Friday at PM Shri Biswambhar Vidyapitha to foster greater interest in local heritage among students. The event, aimed at nurturing curiosity and pride in the region’s rich cultural legacy, saw enthusiastic participation from over 70 students across Puri.

Students from Classes VIII to X showcased their creativity and knowledge through drawing and quiz competitions centered on the theme of heritage. Their artwork and responses reflected a growing awareness and appreciation for the temples, mutts, festivals, and architectural marvels that define the spiritual and historical landscape of Puri.

The winners of the competitions will be felicitated during PHW’s first annual day celebration scheduled to take place at Sanskruti Bhavan on August 10.

PHW, an initiative dedicated to promoting heritage consciousness among both locals and visitors, has so far conducted 12 heritage walks exploring temples, shrines, monuments, and age-old traditions of the holy city. The walks have drawn participation from diverse groups and helped spotlight Puri’s layered history and living culture.

The school-level programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Kumar Aurojyoti, the convener of the initiative. Dedicated PHW members and volunteers including Ashoka Nayak, Debasis Mishra, Jyotsna Mohapatra, Tanmaya Chatterjee, Sidharth Acharya, Priyankar Maharana, Durgamadhab Mohanty, Satyaprakash Nayak, Ashutosh Mahasuar, Biswa Shanti Tripathy, and Abhipsa Nayak played a key role in coordinating the event and engaging the students.
