Special Republic Day Invite for Farmers: A Celebration of Progress and Unity

New Delhi:  The 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, Delhi, witnessed a unique and inclusive celebration this year. The Government of India extended special invitations to over 15,000 individuals from diverse sectors to showcase the nation’s progress and unity. In a notable addition to the guest list, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) invited over 1500 farmers, beneficiaries of central government schemes, such as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, to witness the grand parade.

To enrich their experience, a comprehensive two-day program and training session were organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) on January 25th and 26th, 2024. The training included insights into key government schemes and initiatives like Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Per Drop More Crop, and PMFBY, along with a field visit to the renowned fields of PUSA Campus.

The program’s inaugural ceremony, graced by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Tribal Affairs, Shri Arjun Munda, and MoS Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted the government’s commitment and continuous support towards the economic well-being and welfare of farmers.

On January 26th, the special invitees witnessed the spectacular Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path. Post the parade, Union Minister Shri Arjun Munda interacted with the farmers at PUSA. Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, and Shri Kailash Choudhary, along with other dignitaries, were present.

Union Minister Arjun Munda emphasized the pivotal role farmers play in shaping the nation. Key achievements, including a fivefold increase in the agriculture budget, record-breaking food grain and horticulture production, and significant MSP hikes, were highlighted. Government initiatives such as PM-KISAN, PMFBY, and schemes promoting organic farming underscored the commitment to farmers’ welfare. Efforts in credit accessibility, the Soil Health Card Scheme, and Natural Farming were also showcased.

The celebration concluded with farmers participating in a group photo session alongside Ministers and dignitaries, followed by a curated lunch. The venue featured dedicated selfie stands and banners showcasing MoA&FW’s schemes and initiatives, allowing farmers to actively engage and express their delight during the two-day celebration.
