Smritivan in Kutch Honored in World Selection for Prix Versailles Museums 2024

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today celebrated the inclusion of Smritivan, a memorial in Kutch dedicated to the victims of the tragic 2001 earthquake, in the World Selection for the prestigious Prix Versailles Museums 2024.

In response to the announcement by Prix Versailles Museums, the Prime Minister expressed his pride and sentiment on social media platform X. He posted:

“Smritivan in Kutch is a tribute to those we lost in the tragic Earthquake of 2001. It is a reminder of human resilience and courage as well. Glad that this Museum has found a place on the World Selection for the Prix Versailles Museums 2024.”

Smritivan, located in Bhuj, Gujarat, was established to honor the memory of the thousands who perished in the devastating earthquake that struck the region on January 26, 2001. The museum serves not only as a poignant tribute to those who lost their lives but also as a symbol of the indomitable human spirit and the collective efforts of rebuilding and recovery.

The Prix Versailles is an international award recognizing exceptional achievements in architecture and design across various categories, including museums. The selection of Smritivan for this prestigious honor highlights its architectural significance and the emotional depth it embodies.
