Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar Reviews Progress, Sets Strategic Goals for Next 100 Days

New Delhi: Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar convened a crucial daylong meeting on June 15 with Ministers of State Ramdas Athawale and B.L. Verma to review the progress of ongoing schemes and strategize key departmental initiatives for the next 100 days.

During the meeting, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Rajesh Aggarwal, presented a comprehensive overview of the department’s initiatives. He detailed the modernization efforts of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and highlighted the significant achievements of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD), the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), the National Institutes (NIs), and the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC).

The session included detailed discussions on strategic directions and action plans aimed at enhancing the department’s outreach and efficiency. The modernization of ALIMCO, aimed at revolutionizing the production of aids and assistive devices for persons with disabilities, was a key focus. Achievements of the CCPD, RCI, NIs, and NDFDC were also discussed, underscoring the department’s commitment to inclusive growth and empowerment.

Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar emphasized the importance of these initiatives in fostering an inclusive and equitable society. “The Government’s focus is on creating a robust framework that supports the empowerment and inclusion of all sections of society. The modernization of ALIMCO and the achievements of our various bodies are testaments to our dedication towards this goal,” he stated.

Ministers of State Ramdas Athawale and B.L. Verma echoed these sentiments, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to drive these initiatives forward. Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal, along with senior officers, provided valuable insights and detailed plans to ensure timely and effective implementation.
