Six Schools in Thiruvananthapuram to House Atal Tinkering Labs Following Minister’s Announcement

Thiruvananthapuram:  In a remarkable response to Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s announcement of setting up 10 Atal Tinkering labs (ATLs) in Thiruvananthapuram, six schools have already embraced the initiative within less than 24 hours.

During an engaging session with students at NIMS Medicity yesterday, the Minister, prompted by inquiries from the students regarding the promotion of innovation at the school level, unveiled plans for the establishment of ATLs in 10 schools across the city. Describing the move as part of a broader effort to instill curiosity and innovation among students, the Minister expressed the importance of preparing Thiruvananthapuram’s youth for a dynamically evolving future.

Furthermore, an additional four schools are on the brink of receiving ATLs in the near future, facilitated through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).

Among the esteemed institutions slated to receive ATLs are Chinmaya Vidyalaya Attukal, St Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Alan Feldman Public School, Victory VHSS Olathanni, GHSS Balaramapuram, and Sree Chithira Thirunal Residential Central School. These labs will be furnished with cutting-edge equipment, fostering an environment conducive to hands-on learning experiences.

“The introduction of these labs will serve as incubators for innovation, equipping students with the essential tools and space to experiment, create, and explore,” remarked the Minister. He emphasized the government’s dedication to this endeavor, underscoring the significance of integrating practical, innovative learning methodologies into the educational curriculum.

In a forward-looking statement, the Minister declared, “Within the next five years, no panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram will be devoid of an Atal Tinkering Lab.” This resolute initiative extends an invitation to all remaining schools to partake in this transformative journey towards cultivating a brighter, more innovative future for students.

The rapid uptake of this initiative underscores the eagerness of educational institutions in Thiruvananthapuram to embrace innovation and provide students with the resources necessary to thrive in an increasingly dynamic world. With ATLs poised to become ubiquitous across the city, the stage is set for a paradigm shift in educational practices, emphasizing creativity, problem-solving, and experiential learning.
