Ahmedabad: In a thrilling encounter at Narendra Modi Stadium, the Gujarat Titans showcased their batting prowess, posting a challenging total of 199/4 in 20 overs against the Punjab Kings on Thursday.
Opting to bat first on a favorable batting pitch with short square boundaries, Gujarat Titans openers, Wriddhiman Saha and skipper Shubman Gill, provided a solid start. Gill’s aggressive knock of 89 runs, coupled with Sai Sudarshan’s quickfire 33, propelled the host team to a formidable total.
The opening duo set the tone early on, with Gill launching a six off the last delivery of the first over bowled by left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar. Despite Brar’s initial tight bowling, Gill showcased his aggressive intent, hitting boundaries at regular intervals.
However, the Punjab Kings struck back with Kagiso Rabada dismissing Saha for 11 runs. Kane Williamson, making his debut for Gujarat Titans, contributed a valuable 26 runs before falling to Brar’s guile.
Despite some late wickets, Gujarat Titans managed to reach a challenging total of 199/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
