 ‘Shakti: A Festival of Music and Dance’ to Revitalize Temple Traditions

New Delhi: Sangeet Natak Akademi, the esteemed national academy of performing arts under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, embarks on a journey to rejuvenate the rich tapestry of temple traditions across the country with the festival titled ‘Shakti: A Festival of Music and Dance’. Commencing today, on the auspicious occasion of Navaratri, the festival will run from April 9th to April 17th, 2024, celebrating the divine power of nine goddesses symbolized during this holy period.

Under the banner of ‘Shakti’, the festival aims to pay homage to the spiritual significance of Navaratri by organizing performances at seven prominent Shaktipeeths across India. The inauguration of the festival kicks off today at the revered Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam, followed by a series of events at various Shaktipeeths, including the Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and the Jwalamukhi Temple in Kangada, Himachal Pradesh.

The festival will also grace the divine settings of Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, Tripura, Ambaji Temple in Banaskantha, Gujarat, Jai Durga Shaktipeeth in Deoghar, Jharkhand, and will culminate on April 17th, 2024, at the sacred Shaktipeeth Maa Harsidhi Temple in Jaisinghpur, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
