Sea Phase of Exercise MALABAR 2024 Kicks Off Off the Coast of Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: The Sea Phase of Exercise MALABAR 2024 commenced today in the Bay of Bengal, with naval forces from Australia, India, Japan, and the United States showcasing high levels of cooperation and operational synergy. The four nations, integral to the Indo-Pacific strategic framework, are participating with their warships, helicopters, and long-range maritime patrol aircraft, working together to strengthen maritime security in the region.

The exercise features a broad spectrum of maritime warfare operations, encompassing surface, sub-surface, and air warfare domains. Indian Naval submarines are taking part in advanced sub-surface warfare drills, while Special Forces from the participating countries will engage in joint operations, further enhancing mutual understanding and coordination.

Designed to improve interoperability between the four nations, the Sea Phase emphasizes seamless integration of operations within a Combined Task Force, reinforcing their collective capability to ensure regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific. This high-intensity phase of MALABAR 2024 will conclude on October 18, with a closing ceremony marking the end of the joint exercises.
