Union Budget 2024-25: Financial Support for Higher Education and Research Initiatives Announced
Bhubaneswar: Students seeking admission to undergraduate courses in Odisha for the 2026–27 academic session have been given additional time to complete their applications, with the Higher Education Department extending the deadline for submission of forms through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal.
According to an official notification, applicants can now submit their Common Application Forms (CAF) online until June 16, 2026. The extension is expected to benefit students who were unable to complete the admission process within the earlier deadline.
The department has also announced that the first merit list for undergraduate admissions will be published on June 22, paving the way for the commencement of the admission process across colleges and higher education institutions in the state.
Admissions for the upcoming academic session will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Under the revised framework, students will have the flexibility to select their preferred major and minor subjects while filling out the CAF on the SAMS portal.
The admission process will also facilitate enrolment into Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes, allowing students to combine academic learning with industry-oriented practical training. Interested candidates can apply for these programmes through the same online platform.
Officials said the extension has been granted to ensure that all eligible students get adequate time to exercise their academic choices and complete the application process smoothly.
The Higher Education Department has set a target to begin undergraduate classes for the 2026–27 academic session by July 10, ensuring timely commencement of academic activities in colleges across the state.
Students have been advised to carefully review course options and complete their applications well before the revised deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
