
Bhubaneswar: In a move to streamline administrative functions, the Odisha government on Friday announced a minor reshuffle in the IAS cadre, assigning new responsibilities to senior officers and facilitating a central deputation.
Senior bureaucrat Sanjay Kumar Singh, a 1997-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Works Department. Singh will continue to shoulder additional responsibilities as Principal Secretary of the Information & Public Relations Department and the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department.
IAS officer Yamini Sarangi of the 2008 batch, presently serving as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and GST, will now take on an expanded role. In addition to her existing responsibilities, she has been given the additional charge of Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Rural Development Department. She also continues as Special Secretary in the Finance Department.
Separately, the state government has cleared the central deputation of 1996 batch IAS officer Vir Vikram Yadav. Until now, Yadav was serving as Principal Secretary of the Works Department, besides holding additional charges as Commissioner of Trade Promotion and Investment and Member Secretary of the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes. He has been relieved from state duties to join as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
