Leh: The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League Season 2 delivered a thrilling Day 6 as defending champions Kang Sings and Maryul Spamo secured their places in the semi-finals with commanding performances. Kang Sings’ stunning 9-0 victory over United Nubra marked the biggest win of the season, while Maryul Spamo topped the women’s group with a disciplined 2-0 win over Sham Eagles.
Kang Sings continued their unbeaten streak with a resounding 9-0 win against United Nubra, led by captain Mushtaq Ahmed’s four-goal masterclass. The game started with a sharp snap shot from Deldan Namgyal in the 9th minute, giving the Sings a 1-0 lead by the end of the first period. They then unleashed their full firepower in the subsequent periods, with standout contributions from Stanzin Largail, Stanzin Lotos, and Stanzin Phuntsog. The result secures Kang Sings a semi-final berth and solidifies their reputation as the team to beat.
In the women’s category, Maryul Spamo cemented their top spot with a 2-0 win over Sham Eagles in their final group stage match. Skipper Padma Chorol set the tone with an early goal in the second minute, followed by Rinchen Dolma’s quick strike just three minutes later. The champions’ strong defense kept the Eagles at bay throughout, setting up a semi-final clash with Humas Queens.
The Kargil-based Purig Warriors delivered a 2-0 victory over Maryul Spawo in a tightly contested men’s game. Kunchuk Tharpa broke the deadlock in the second period with a brilliant snap shot, and Sarfaraz Hussain sealed the win in the dying seconds with a spectacular running wrist shot. The Warriors now hold second place in Group B and remain in contention for the semi-finals.
The day began with a gripping 2-2 draw between Changla Blasters and Shakar Chiktan Royals. Stanzin Namgail opened the scoring for the Blasters, but quick responses from Ali Akbar and Asgar Ali gave the Royals a 2-1 lead by the end of the second period. Tundup Gyalson’s crucial equalizer in the final period ensured the Blasters denied the Royals their first win of the season.
The final day of the men’s group stage on Friday promises intense action, with Changthang Shan facing Sham Wolves in a crucial semi-final decider and Changla Warriors taking on Humas Warriors in a potential knockout game.
In the women’s semi-finals, Maryul Spamo will take on Humas Queens, while Sham Eagles face Tsewang Chuskit’s Changla Lamos.
The women’s final is scheduled for January 12, followed by the men’s championship final and the grand closing ceremony on January 13 at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium in Leh.
