Rajasthan’s ‘Bhim’ Steals the Show at Odisha’s Fish and Animal Husbandry Convention

Bhubaneswar: A special guest from Rajasthan has become the star attraction at the State-Level Fish and Animal Husbandry Convention held at the Baramunda playground in Bhubaneswar. ‘Bhim,‘ a massive Murrah breed buffalo from Jodhpur, has captivated attendees with its towering presence and exceptional physique.

The 9-year-old buffalo, weighing an astonishing 1,500 kilograms and standing 6 feet tall, has drawn curious crowds eager to witness one of India’s most celebrated livestock specimens. With its sleek black coat, formidable stature, and superior health, Bhim is considered a prized buffalo bull nationwide.

According to its owner, Jawaharlal Jangid, Bhim is highly sought after for its top-quality genetics and superior breeding potential. The buffalo’s daily diet costs approximately ₹5,000 and includes an extravagant mix of 20 liters of royal jelly, cashew nuts, pistachios, carrots, cabbage, seasonal fruits, dry straw, and green grass. In addition, Bhim consumes 1 kg of bilona ghee daily, contributing to its robust physique and strength.

Beyond its diet, Bhim follows a strict fitness regime to maintain its massive frame. The buffalo exercises daily in an open field and swims twice a day, a unique routine that enhances its stamina and muscle tone.

The presence of Bhim at the convention has provided a learning opportunity for fish farmers and livestock keepers, offering insights into elite buffalo breeding and maintenance. The Murrah breed, known for its high milk production capacity of 20-25 liters per day, is highly valued in the dairy industry, making Bhim a prime example of superior genetic potential.
