Jaipur: In a spectacular match, Rajasthan Royals clinched a victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a thrilling encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Saturday, despite Virat Kohli’s monumental century.
Virat Kohli’s extraordinary knock of 113 runs not out off 72 balls, which marked his record-extending eighth IPL century, dazzled the audience. Partnering with skipper Faf du Plessis (44 off 33 balls), Kohli forged a formidable partnership of 125 runs. However, despite their commendable efforts, RCB’s total of 183 runs proved insufficient as they failed to accelerate the run rate sufficiently.
Rajasthan Royals’ spin duo, Yuzvendra Chahal (2/34 in 4 overs) and Ravichandran Ashwin (0/28 in 4 overs), emerged as the stars of the bowling attack, effectively stifling RCB’s batters and restricting their scoring opportunities.
Rajasthan Royals successfully reached the target with five balls to spare. Jos Buttler led the charge with an outstanding unbeaten century, showcasing a return to form, while skipper Sanju Samson provided invaluable support with a resilient innings of 69 runs off 42 balls.
