
Bhubaneswar: The Railway officials helped a woman deliver a baby inside a train at the Bhubaneswar railway station on Saturday.
The woman, named Ayesha Khatun was travelling with her husband and mother-in-law in Howrah-Yeshvantpur Express train. She developed labour pain before the train reached Bhubaneswar station. Her husband immediately informed the railway officials inside the train for help.
Understanding the severity of the situation, the railway officials sought immediate assistance from the Bhubaneswar railway station.
A team of ‘Meri Saheli’ was waiting for the arrival of the train at the station. When the train reached at 4.45 pm, the team immediately went to the compartment in which she was travelling. All the passengers were asked to vacate the compartment and the medical team led by the Railway doctor helped her deliver a healthy baby boy.
The condition of both mother and the baby was stated to be normal and were admitted to Capital Hospital for further medical care.
