Puri: Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, visited Puri Railway Station today to review the arrangements made for the convenience of pilgrims and devotees during the Rath Yatra period.

During his inspection, Vaishnaw emphasized the Indian Railways’ commitment to enhancing passenger facilities and improving the overall travel experience. He highlighted several initiatives undertaken to accommodate the influx of visitors for the Rath Yatra, including the operation of 315 special trains connecting Puri with various destinations. These trains facilitate travel from neighboring states such as Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal.

In an effort to ensure comprehensive connectivity, special trains are being dispatched from numerous locations across Odisha, including Badampahar, Bangiriposi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Junagarh Road, Sonepur, Gunupur, Brahmapur, Daspalla, Angul, Paradeep, Kendujhargarh, Bhadrak, and Baleswar. The aim is to connect Puri with all districts within the state.

Vaishnaw also detailed the measures implemented by the Railways for the Car Festival, which include crowd management, train information systems, video wall displays, mobile ticket counters, and enhanced security arrangements. Facilities such as pilgrim waiting areas, catering, medical services, and additional amenities like power and water supply have been established to ensure the comfort of passengers.

The minister noted that the Railways aim to accommodate 1.5 million passengers traveling to and from Puri during this period. Additionally, special trains will be scheduled using an AI-based dynamic system to meet any surge in demand, ensuring efficient transportation for all travelers.
