PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter Hosts Insightful Roundtable on Women Empowerment in Communication

Bhubaneswar: On the eve of International Women’s Day 2024, the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) organized a roundtable discussion on the theme ‘Celebrating Women in Communication.’ The event was aligned with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.’

Rupali Kar, AGM of PR, Media, and Corporate Communication at JSW, emphasized the importance of supporting the next generation of women professionals. She highlighted the need for creating a conducive environment where young girls can lead happy and stress-free lives, pursuing their chosen paths. Kar also stressed the importance of adapting to fast-paced technological advancements in the field of communication.

Lagna Pany, CHRO of CSM Technologies, shared her experience as an HR leader, stating that women excel in HR and marketing due to their compassion and sensitivity. She commended women in public relations, media, and strategic communication for their exceptional contributions.

Guest speaker Nilanjana Mukherjee, Managing Director of Kalinga Hospital, pointed out the communication gap in the healthcare industry. She emphasized the need for better communication skills among healthcare workers and doctors, especially in dealing with the emotional responses of patients and their families.

Shashank Pattnaik, Chairman of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter, delivered the keynote address, elaborating on inspiring women communication leaders and emphasizing the importance of equality and gender sensitivity in the workplace.

Former Chairman of PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter highlighted the evolution of public communication from smoke signals and shared the example of Rosa Parks, whose quiet protest sparked the civil disobedience movement in the US.

The roundtable discussion, coordinated by Amtrita Kundu, featured insights from various professionals and healthcare experts. PRSI Bhubaneswar Chapter Secretary Krushna Chandra Mahapatra presented the vote of thanks. The event was attended by members of PRSI Bhubaneswar and healthcare professionals, fostering meaningful discussions on the role of women in communication.
