Prime Minister Modi Launches Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced Assam today with the inauguration and foundation stone laying for the Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana, a transformative initiative central to the Rs 11,000 crore development plan for the state. Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of this project in enhancing devotees’ experience and catapulting Assam into the forefront of North East tourism.

The Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana, a centerpiece of the comprehensive development strategy, is set to elevate the ease of access, comfort, and overall appeal for devotees visiting the revered pilgrimage site. Prime Minister Modi envisions Assam becoming the gateway to tourism in the North East, anticipating a substantial increase in footfall for Maa Kamakhya’s darshan.

Underlining the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural heritage, the Prime Minister praised the efforts to connect historical and spiritual sites in Assam with modern facilities. He cited the expansion of educational institutes like IIT and IIM, emphasizing the state’s gradual evolution into a hub for cancer treatment in the North East.

“Ease of living is the priority of the present government,” remarked Prime Minister Modi, outlining initiatives such as building 4 crore pucca houses, supplying essential utilities, and promoting cleanliness under Swachh Bharat.

The Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana is poised to play a pivotal role in the holistic development of Assam, showcasing a commitment to heritage and modernization. The event was attended by Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Katarai, Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways and AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal, among other dignitaries.
