President Murmu Witnesses Indian Navy’s Impressive Sea Operations in Maiden Visit

Goa: President Droupadi Murmu observed a remarkable operational demonstration by the Indian Navy on November 7, 2024, during her first visit to Navy ships at sea. The event highlighted India’s naval strength and capabilities, underscoring the nation’s defense preparedness.

The President arrived at INS Hansa, the Naval Air Station in Goa, where she was warmly received by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. Upon her arrival, a ceremonial ‘Guard of Honour’ comprising 150 personnel was paraded, marking the significance of her visit.

Embarking on the indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, the President joined a fleet of 15 frontline warships and submarines of the Indian Navy off the coast of Goa. During her time on board, she received a briefing on the Navy’s role, charter, and operational strategies, gaining a closer look at India’s maritime defense operations.

President Murmu witnessed several live naval exercises, showcasing the Navy’s tactical prowess. The demonstration included deck-based fighter jet take-offs and landings, missile firing drills from a warship, submarine operations, and a flypast of over 30 aircraft. The display culminated in a traditional steam-past of warships, a ceremonial salute to the President and the nation.

Following the impressive demonstration, President Murmu shared lunch with the crew of INS Vikrant and addressed the fleet, with her remarks broadcast to all Navy units at sea. Her visit underscores India’s commitment to a formidable maritime presence and the Navy’s pivotal role in safeguarding national security.
