President Droupadi Murmu Explores Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, Applauds Immersive Displays

New Delhi: President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, embarked on a detailed visit to the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, immersing herself in the rich history and narratives showcased within its galleries. During her one-and-a-half-hour visit, she demonstrated a keen interest in the Constitution Gallery in the old building.

A notable highlight of her visit was President Murmu becoming the inaugural visitor to the Narendra Modi Gallery, slated for public opening on January 16, 2024. Delving into its thematic sections such as Sushashan, Paryavaran, Vikas, Antarrashtriya Sadbhaava, Vigyanodaya, Sanskritik Dharohar, and Suraksha, Jan Bhagidari, she expressed admiration for the immersive and interactive displays. The experiential zone, Anubhuti, also captured her attention.

President Murmu lauded the Sangrahalaya’s offerings, leaving a heartfelt note in the visitor book, stating, “I am convinced that every Indian citizen who comes here and sees the various galleries of the Sangrahalaya will feel proud.”

In her exploration of the displays, she showed particular interest in the exhibits on the Temples of Modern India and institutions established post-Independence. The Toshakahana, showcasing gifts received by Prime Ministers, drew her attention. The private wing of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, including his bedroom and study, was also part of her tour.

In the new building, President Murmu visited the Freedom and Unity Gallery, featuring films on Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. She delved into the galleries dedicated to various Prime Ministers, exploring artifacts such as Lal Bahadur Shastri’s badminton racket and charkha and perusing the letters and jail diary of Jayaprakash Narayan.

Accompanied by members of the Prime Minister Museum & Library (PMML) Executive Council, including Chairman Shri Nripendra Misra and Vice Chairman Dr. A. Surya Prakash, the President explored significant exhibits, including the recreation of Pokharan 2 nuclear tests, the Golden Quadrilateral display, and the Kargil War film. She expressed deep interest in the exhibit on the Indo-US Civil nuclear deal.

The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on April 14, 2022, has swiftly become a significant attraction for visitors of all ages. With an average of 2000 visitors daily, the Sangrahalaya has welcomed approximately 7.5 lakh visitors since its inauguration, offering a unique journey through India’s parliamentary democracy and developmental milestones.
