
PPresident Droupadi Murmu Marks Two Years in Office with Educational and Cultural Initiatives
New Delhi: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, is scheduled to visit Meghalaya and Assam from January 15 to 17, 2024, as part of her official engagements.
On January 15, the President will kickstart her visit by inaugurating the Meghalaya Games at the PA Sangma Stadium in Tura, setting the tone for a series of events aimed at promoting sports and cultural activities in the region.
Moving forward to January 16, President Murmu will address members of Self Help Groups at Baljek Airport in Tura. During this engagement, she will also virtually lay the foundation stone for the new Integrated Administration Complex in Tura, reinforcing the commitment to modern infrastructure and administrative facilities.
The day continues with the President addressing a gathering at Mawphlang, where she will virtually inaugurate the upgraded Rongjeng Mangsang Adokgre Road and Mairang Ranigodown Azra Road. Additionally, President Murmu will lay the foundation stones for key projects, including the Shillong Peak Ropeway and tourist accommodations in the villages of Kongthong, Mawlyngot, and Kudengrim, contributing to the development of tourism infrastructure.
To conclude the day, a civic reception will be hosted in President Murmu’s honor by the Government of Meghalaya at the Raj Bhavan in Shillong, providing an opportunity for interaction and exchange with dignitaries and officials.
On January 17, the President will participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Karbi Youth Festival at Taralangso, Diphu, Assam, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the Karbi community.
This visit underscores the President’s commitment to fostering cultural, economic, and social development in the northeastern states, promoting inclusivity and unity.
